Hartford stops new homes in California
The Hartford Financial Services Group, a major provider of business, home and automotive insurance, will no longer write new policies for California homeowners starting on Feb. 1.
In an email delivered yesterday to an agent, Hippo shared that it is pausing all new business countrywide “effective immediately.” The note also stated that Hippo will continue to monitor portfolio performance to reopen business on a state-by-state basis.
Kemper announced it is exiting the preferred home and auto market, sold through its Kemper Personal Insurance brand, and will actively reduce the business, with all policies being non-renewed or canceled.
AAA will not renew the auto and home insurance policies for some customers in Florida, joining a growing list of insurers dialing back their presence in the Sunshine State amid a growing risk of natural disasters.
Farmers Insurance will stop writing new business and not renew its existing “Farmers-branded” automobile, home and umbrella policies in the Sunshine State, the company said.
